About this Route

The fifth-highest peak in Toubkal National Park, Afella sits on the long south-western ridge beyond Ouanoukrim. No marked trail, no crowds, and sustained scrambling on volcanic rock with exposed ridgeline sections. A prized objective for mountaineers seeking solitude. Can be combined with Biguinnoussene in a bivouac itinerary.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

5–7 hours. Standard Mizane Valley approach to the refuge. Overnight to acclimatise and prepare gear.
