Among the majestic peaks of Morocco, Mgoun stands defiantly in the skies: at 4,071m it is the second-highest peak in the country after Toubkal. A demanding yet incredibly rewarding climb that attracts hikers worldwide in search of challenge and stunning scenery. Your journey begins in the charming Ait Bougmez Valley, with nights in a guesthouse and under canvas.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

~5 hours drive + 2 hours walking | 500m ascent | 8km. Early morning transfer from Marrakech to Azilal, the gateway to the mountains, then on over the Tizi N'Tirghist pass to the peaceful Ait Bouguemez Valley. Meet the muleteer team over a delicious lunch, then ascend the small Arous valley to the sheepfolds of Ikkis N'Arous pasture. Overnight in tents.
